Yakiniku is a Japaneses dish and means baked or grilled meat; Yaki = grill, bake and niku = meat. It's taste similar to Korean yakiniku which is called bulgogi. I've tried bulgogi once with chicken instead of meat. This is my second recipe of beef yakiniku. The different from the last one is the sauce in which I added grated apple and grilling instead of pan-cooking. We eat it with steamed rice, vegetable salad with Japanese salad dressing.

Ingredients:
400 gr beef - sliced in stripes
1 onion - sliced
Marinade Sauce
6 tbsp light soy sauce
3 cloves garlic - grated
1 apple - grated to release juice
2 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp sesame oil
3 tbsp white sesame seeds
6 tbsp sake or rice wine or white wine or sherry wine
Directions:
Roast white sesame seeds in a frying pan by heating the pan on medium heat. When you hear 2-3 pops, remove from heat. Grind roasted sesame seeds using mortar or food processor
Combine all ingredients of Marinade Sauce, add sliced beef and marinate for at least 1 hour
In a frying pan cook sliced onion until soft. Set aside
Remove meat and grill on a medium heat. Combine with cooked onion and serve over rice or noodle with salad

Japanese Basic Salad Dressing
Ingredients:
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
5 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp light soy sauce
1/2 tsp sugar

Directions:
Combine all the ingredients, except oil, in a bowl
Add oil gradually into a bowl and combine well
Note:
This recipe suits for chicken as well
